This blog is more for people who are new to Meet People Chicago. For our regular members, what I am about to write is music to their ears. That makes sense because at least 40% of our event attendees are repeat members. Now remember we have multiple events a week, so getting 40% repeat customers is something we're very proud of. How do we do that? Let me tell you what happens at a MPC event and perhaps it'll all make sense then. :)
Everyone is smiling
Yup, when you walk into a MPC event, that's the first thing you noticed. People are nice, friendly and happy to meet you.
Everyone is talking
I always encourage new people to our group to come early. Why? Because if you are a bit shy and see that everyone is talking, you might mistakenly think that everyone knows each other when it's actually the opposite case. I know this because I received comments saying "Seems like everybody are friends, so I left". First of all don't leave. Instead just say hi to someone. And second, because our group loves to meet people, expect everyone to be talking!
People are connecting
When people talk, people connect. Whether it's that hang out buddy you were seeking or someone that gives you some butterflies. Whatever the case, in our event, there are usually a dozen or more connections a night. And even if you don't think you connected, you actually probably did; come back to our events often and you might see that person that you felt you missed last time. Remember, as many half our members are repeat customers!
Numbers are being exchanged
In order to connect "officially", numbers have to be exchanged. I don't know how many times I see people exchanging their numbers on their phones. It's always a good feeling when I see that. :)
People are drinking
Not everyone drinks but more than not you'll see almost everyone with a drink in their hand. Makes sense as most times we go to bars for our events. Bars are easy as it has drinks, food and space and of course music. Perfect combination for people to get out of their comfort zone and start meeting new people.
People are having fun
It's kind of obvious that people are having fun if they do all the above. Besides having big crowds at our events, most of our events last 3 or more hours. In fact, I had days where we had an event that starts at 3pm and I didn't come home until 3am. I'm not sure if I can do that anymore but yes, our group can party!
The Superhost is the busiest and most popular person
Our superhost is named a superhost for a reason. He or she makes sure that you feel welcome. That the event is ready to go. That the venue is well prepared. To make sure the entire night goes smoothly. On top of all that, converse and be friends with you the whole night!
You'll come away happy (and surprised)
Finally, we are highly rated for a reason or that our members keep coming back. Especially if you are new to our group, you will come away feeling "Wow, I had a great time!". In fact that is the number one comment I get in person or in email the next day. People are pleasantly surprised how much fun they had and how happy they decided to make it to our event. We're happy too and as we hear more of these compliments from our members, it makes the superhost want to do even better at the next event!
Now you know what to expect at our event. I hope this helps you as you register for the next event you plan to go to. Remember, we are uniquely different than any other group. We have created a culture of inclusiveness and because of that our events are super fun. Go ahead, sign up and join us at the next event!
